Appointment to Donside Group fo Churches

The Revd Suzanne Brumwell has been apopointed to the Donside Group of Churches.

The Revd Prof. David Atkinson, Convenor Donside Churches Search and Appointment Committee, writes:

The Ministry Team, and the Search and Appointment Group, representing the Vestries of the Donside Group of Churches, are delighted to announce that the Revd. Suzanne Brumwell has accepted the call to come to Aberdeenshire as our new Rector. Suzanne is currently the Team Vicar responsible for a group of three churches within the Pedair Afon Ministry Area in the Diocese of Llandaff.

Suzanne was able to visit us earlier this month to see all four churches and to meet a number of members of the congregations. As part of the discernment process Suzanne lead a seminar on ‘Mission in Contemporary Scotland’ and was interviewed by the Search and Appointment Group. She also met with Bishop Anne.  We were all convinced that she was the person for whom we had been searching as the successor to Revd. Canon John Walker who retired in Autumn 2021. Suzanne comes to us with a proven track record of both pastoral work with people of all ages and of involvement in mission, both initially as a lay church worker and subsequently as a priest.  Her involvement in mission has ranged from organising pastoral care with lay volunteers to the development of a charity shop business. We look forward to welcoming Suzanne and her husband Phil and to their joining us later this year.

The Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney, Rt Revd Anne Dyer, said: ‘I am delighted that Revd Suzanne Brumwell has responded to the call to come to serve the Donside Group of Churches as their next Rector. Suzanne has a passion for mission, especially the inclusion of children. She is a prayerful, community minded priest, with experience in churches of different traditions. We look forward to welcoming Suzanne into the Diocese.’
