The Scottish Episcopal Church, in common with many other Christian denominations, marks the Season of Creation from 1st September to 4th October each year. The Season concludes with Harvest Festival and uses the Revised Common Lectionary readings set for the year. There is experimental liturgical material available for Eucharists, Services of the Word and Daily Prayer, which can be found on the Provincial website.
The Diocese is reflecting theologically on environmental issues this year through the Christian Life project “All Creation Waits…” (funded by a grant from the Benefact Trust). To continue these reflections, a reflection activity will be posted each day.
Each of the five weeks has a theme: Water, Land, Wind, Seed Time, and Harvest. There are suggestions for each day (Day 1,2, 3…). These involve reflection on scripture, questions, prayer and actions. You can do these in any order you choose. There are hymn verses, poems and prayers interspersed for each week. There are activities outside – the weather may impact when you do them! The material for each week will be posted on Monday, with daily reflections posted in the Food for Thought section of this website.
