I believe in One God…
When are times in your life you have realised that you truly believe in God (it might be sudden or gradual)?
What does it mean to you to love God with all your heart, soul and might?
What part of creation are you most grateful for?
These questions, and more, are some of the themes we’ll be exploring in the first week of Credo – Nicaea 1700 gatherings across the Diocese between 18-25 May.
The ‘One God’ lunch at St James Aberdeen and the two gatherings at St Andrew’s Alford (Wednesday 21st, 12-2pm) and St Ternan’s Banchory (Thursday 22nd, 7.30-9.30pm) will explore what it means to each of us to profess that we believe in One God and the first part of the Nicene Creed.
Resources will be available to the wider Diocese – including as part of the Ashes to Fire Ascension to Pentecost Course and online.
All are welcome to participate in some or all the activities. All events are free, including refreshments. Please feel free to meet some new people, and reflect on your and our Christian faith focussed on the Nicene Creed.

These are the first week of events across the Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney to mark the 1700th anniversary of the Ecumenical Council at Nicaea in 325AN. The other weeks are in August and November. The meeting at Nicaea (now in modern day Türkiye) established a clear understanding of the nature of Christ and the centrality of his life, death and resurrection for our salvation
