These questions, and more, are some of the themes we’ll be exploring in the second week of Credo – Nicaea 1700 gatherings across the Diocese between 24 – 31 August.
The ‘One God’ lunch at St James Aberdeen (Monday 25 August) and the gatherings at St Andrew’s Alford (Tuesday 26 August), St Mary’s Ellon (Wednesday 27 August) and St Ternan’s Banchory (Thursday 28 August) we will explore what it means to each of us to profess that we believe in One God and the second part of the Nicene Creed.
At each event there will be free refreshments and a chance to talk and reflect together.
Due to emergency repair works to the bridge near Deer Abbey the Prayer Walk and picnic has been cancelled – we will return to Old Deer as part of the Christian Life events across the Diocese in 2026.
Resources will be available to the wider Diocese – including a new set of Credo cards.
All are welcome to participate in some or all the activities. All events are free, including refreshments. Please feel free to meet some new people, and reflect on your and our Christian faith focused on the Nicene Creed.

These are the second week of events across the Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney to mark the 1700th anniversary of the Ecumenical Council at Nicaea in 325AD. The last week will be in November looking at the Holy Spirit. The meeting at Nicaea (now in modern day Türkiye) established a clear understanding of the nature of Christ and the centrality of his life, death and resurrection for our salvation.
