Today is the sixth Sunday in Lent: Palm Sunday, in our Lent to Pentecost course we read the Revised Common Lectionary scripture appointed for this day. We have the Liturgy of the Palms and the Liturgy of the Passion. The readings are Liturgy of the Palms: Luke 19:28-40 and Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29. The Liturgy of the Passion: Isaiah 50:4-9a, Psalm 31:9-16, Philippians 2:5-11, and Luke 22:14 – 23:56.
The Collect for the Liturgy of the Palms is: Assist us mercifully with your help, Lord God of our salvation: that we may enter with joy into the celebration of those mighty acts whereby you give us life and immortality; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
The Collect for the Liturgy of the Passion is: Almighty God, who, in your tender love for the human race, sent your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, to take our nature upon him, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: mercifully grant, that we may both follow the example of his passion, and also, be made partakers of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
There are readings appointed for each day of Holy Week, so the course format will be a little different as we approach Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.
