You are warmly invited to a special Diocesan-wide event to be held on Saturday, 27 August from 10am-3:30pm at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral in Aberdeen.
The Provincial Net Zero Team is excited to be collaborating with the Diocese to organise a ‘Diocesan Net Zero Roadshow’ event. We are holding such events in all seven Diocese, with the goal of bringing together charges from throughout each Diocese to network, inspire, collaborate and learn.
We will be hosting a wide variety of external partners for networking, demonstration, talks and workshops. Conversations and collaborations will span worship, technology, project development, funding & community engagement.
Workshops will include contributions from Heat Hack, A Rocha, Faith in Communities, Christian Aid, Herschel and Flexel. More information about these workshops will follow in due course.
Other external partners, who will be on hand to exhibit and contribute to various conversations, include the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), Eco-Congregation Scotland, the North East Scotland Climate Action Network (NESCAN), and Business, Local and Home Energy Scotland.
**Please RSVP for this event here**
We would greatly appreciate the contribution and perspective of any eco-groups or those involved with sustainable projects at their churches, and plan to have specific opportunity for Diocesan case-studies to be represented. That said, any and all members of Aberdeen & Orkney charges are welcome to attend!
We intend for this to be motivating for those who have begun their sustainable journeys, but also inspiration for those who haven’t yet gotten involved. Please share this invite widely.
The day will include a plant-based catered lunch from a local social enterprise and will end with worship, helping to keep our environmental concerns rooted within the context of our faith. Please see a draft timetable for the day below:
- 10:00 Arrival and Registration
- 10.30 Session 1: Introduction and Meet our Contributors
- 11.00 Session 2: Choice of Workshops
- 12.00 Session 3: Sharing Diocesan Stories
- 13:00 Lunch
- 14:00 Session 4: Choice of Workshops
- 15:00 Closing Worship
The Net Zero team would welcome any questions, suggestions or concerns. Again, the RSVP link can be found here – RSVPing will greatly help us with their organisation.
For those unable to attend, we will be organising a ‘virtual roadshow’ event in the Autumn to specifically provide for those from rural or island charges unable to attend physically (or those who have a timetable clash).
